Blend Right Inn is an action narrative game and also my very first project developed on Unreal Engine 5. I primarily worked as a Gameplay Programmer on this project. However, I also took on the roles of game designer, level designer, and narrative designer! This school project was produced by a group of 5 developers over a period of 2 months!
This project, which began in late November 2023 and spanned over a period of 2 months, marked my inaugural venture into Unreal Engine 5 production. It provided me with invaluable insights into the general utilization of the game engine. In this initial endeavor, I primarily focused on the branching dialogue system. I developed a flexible branching dialogue system along with an integrated tagging system.
The tagging system facilitated the creation of more dynamic dialogues, particularly through the utilization of delays (to control the speed of text display) and emotional tags (to regulate NPC emotions at specific moments within a sentence). All of this was aimed at crafting smooth and dynamic conversations.
